Aseneskak Casino is owned by a consortium of six First Nations:
All profits from the Aseneskak Casino are divided by the six First Nations and the Tribal Council, with a percentage going to other First Nations.
After the Manitoba Government gave all provincial First nations the opportunity to submit casino proposals in March 2000, Aseneskak Casino was among a select few to reach the second stage of the approval process. On September 7th, 2001, the Aseneskak consortium became the first group to sign official agreements with the Manitoba Government.
Less than a year later (on February 15th, 2002), the Aseneskak Casino opened its doors to the public. The casino currently has 160 state of the art slot machines (as of April 2008), including a Players Club reward program and Table Games featuring Texas Hold’em Poker.
Situated on the Opaskwayak Cree Nation, the 20,000 square foot operation is just a five-minute drive from the town of The Pas, via Highway 10 North. This location is in convenient proximity to other Opaskwayak businesses, enabling the Casino to provide its visitors with a host of additional services. Free shuttle service is offered from the local hotels to the Casino and back. And when visitors want to explore the great outdoors, the Aseneskak Casino works with local tour operators to show visitors the rich history and Native Culture in the area.
Looking into the future, Opaskwayak Cree Nation is always improving and expanding its recreational facilities. Watch for further announcements.
